Why am I passionate about this?

Having brought myself back from the brink more than once, finally building a lasting, abundant life for myself; I know what it takes and I know how easy it is to lose your way. I am extremely passionate about helping others avoid the pitfalls, break through the self-imposed barriers and find their own version of abundance. It’s not just about money, though that’s certainly a component for a lot of people. It’s about bringing awareness to what your dream life actually looks like, getting precise about it, and then clearing you a path that leads inexorably towards it. I have walked that path myself and now, I want to help you do the same.

The books I picked & why

Book cover of The Surrender Experiment: My Journey Into Life's Perfection

Daniel Mangena Why did I love this book?

What I love about Michael A. Singer’s The Surrender Experiment is that it really shows us just how much life is serving up for us, every single day. In fact - that’s how I discovered it in the first place! A friend recommended one of Michael’s other books to me (The Untethered Soul) but I mistakenly read this instead.

Michael is a professor turned spiritual teacher and author. The Surrender Experiment is all about his journey, having made the commitment to simply trust in the flow of life. He chronicles how he created the framework within his life to live this way, what unfolded for him as a result, and the beauty of it all.

The reason why I recommend this book as being complementary to Stepping Beyond Intention and for anyone looking for guidance in personal development is that it opens your eyes up to just how much is out there for you. It’s about showing you how to get out of the way of what life is trying to give you.

It’s very easy to get caught up in trying to dictate how something should show up for you. The Surrender Experiment reminds us that we need to be open to all of the ways something can happen for us.

By Michael A. Singer,

Why should I read it?

2 authors picked The Surrender Experiment as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Michael A. Singer, author of The Untethered Soul, tells the extraordinary story of what happened when, after a deep spiritual awakening, he decided to let go of his personal preferences and simply let life call the shots. As Singer takes you on this great experiment and journey into life's perfection, the events that transpire will both challenge your deepest assumptions about life and inspire you to look at your own life in a radically different way.

Spirituality is meant to bring about harmony and peace. But the diversity of our philosophies, beliefs, concepts, and views about the soul often leads…

Book cover of The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Daniel Mangena Why did I love this book?

The Power of Now was a book that I discovered when I was at my absolute, lowest ebb. Long story short - I had built and lost two multi-million dollar fortunes, and when I lost everything for the second time, I hit rock bottom. I was looking for a way out, to end my life decisively because I just didn’t see anything in my future but more failure.

Tolle’s book was instrumental in bringing me back from the edge. It reminded me that all that exists is now and opened my eyes to the power in that. His writing is very easy to follow and gives practical guidance on how to harness the power of the present moment.

All too often we get caught up in thinking about the past or worrying about the future when the only place that we can actually affect change is the present. The Power of Now will give you practical guidance on how to do just that!

Book cover of Uniting the States of America: A Self-Care Plan for a Wounded Nation

Uniting the States of America By Lyle Greenfield,

We’ve all experienced the overwhelming level of political and social divisiveness in our country. This invisible “virus” of negativity is, in part, the result of the name-calling and heated rhetoric that has become commonplace among commentators and elected leaders alike.

My book provides a clear perspective on the historical and…

Book cover of The Richest Man In Babylon

Daniel Mangena Why did I love this book?

I love how The Richest Man in Babylon lays out, chapter by chapter, a series of fables that reveal a simple truth that we can apply ourselves, for greater impact in our lives.

Clason was born in 1874 and throughout his life he went from being a civil engineer in the Spanish War to growing one of the most profitable map companies in the USA. Observing the financial struggles of those around him, especially in depression-era America; he turned his hand to writing. Clason wanted to show others how to not only acquire wealth but to be wealthy.

This is something I took very much to heart, and I use this lesson in my own teachings. If we want to be wealthy, we need to think beyond just money. Being a wealthy person is about living a different life to the one we live now. Simply having more money will not make us wealthy, because we will still be engaging in life from a space of lack.

The Richest Man in Babylon offers some really simple home truths, as told in the series of chapters that our protagonist goes through. I recommend this to anyone who is struggling to believe in themselves as worthy of wealth and abundance.

Book cover of The Way of the Superior Man: A Spiritual Guide to Mastering the Challenges of Women, Work, and Sexual Desire

Daniel Mangena Why did I love this book?

What I love about The Way of the Superior Man is that it frames the traditional, ancient ways of looking at masculine energy in a way that those of us in the modern, 21st-century western world can relate to.

This is not a book about being a man, or in any way exclusively for men. It’s about how we relate to the masculine energy that is inside of all of us. This is an important component of what I teach in Stepping Beyond Intention as well because it shows us how we relate to others and the world around us.

It’s about getting you to see the interplay and polarity of energies that exist within you. Armed with that awareness, you’ll be able to better direct yourself at achieving your goals.

Book cover of The Midas Method

Daniel Mangena Why did I love this book?

This is one of the earliest books I read, that I credit with helping me to make my first million. That’s how I would recommend it to people now; if you’re just starting out on your journey and need something to offer you structure - this is a fantastic resource for that.

What is so great about Goldsmith’s approach is that he explains things clearly and then gives readers very easy to follow, step-by-step guidance. The methods I teach are similarly structured to his, including identifying goals and then making them real for yourself before you achieve them. Where I expanded on this was to really look at the process as being one of alignment and obstacle removal.

I think, longer term, there is more to learn about being a wealthy person. While I credit this book with helping me to make my first million, it didn’t help me to keep it. Nevertheless, if you’re just starting out and need some help to gain momentum: this is an excellent place to start!
